Water Well Pumps, Pump Systems & Accessories

Whether your water source is a drilled well, a spring, a creek, or a stream, we carry the equipment and the expertise to get water where it needs to go — reliably, efficiently, and at the right pressure.

Reliable Water Supply Starts with the Right Equipment

Rock City Machine Company has been supplying well pumps and water supply systems to Middle Tennessee homes and businesses since 1902. From basic pressure tank setups to advanced constant pressure variable frequency drive (VFD) systems, every product we carry is backed by over 120 years of hands-on service experience.

A well pump system isn't a one-size-fits-all solution. The right configuration depends on your water source depth, flow rate requirements, pipe layout, and how many fixtures or processes depend on that supply. The wrong pump leads to short-cycling, premature motor failure, and inconsistent water pressure. We've seen it plenty of times.

Rock City Machine Company takes the guesswork out of the selection process. Our team understands Middle Tennessee's geology, well depths, and regional water supply conditions. We match customers with systems that are properly sized for their specific application, not just whatever happens to be on the shelf.

Frequently Asked Questions

Still unsure which configuration fits your property? Our staff has been sizing well systems in this region since 1902.

The appropriate pump depends primarily on your well depth and required flow rate. Drilled wells deeper than 25 feet typically require a submersible pump. Shallower wells, springs, and surface water sources may be served by a jet pump. Our staff can help determine the right configuration based on your specific conditions.

Rapid pump cycling is the most common sign — the pump kicks on and off far more frequently than it should. A tank that's lost its pre-charge pressure will cause that problem and accelerate motor wear. Visible corrosion, leaking, or waterlogged behavior are other indicators.

A standard pressure tank system operates within a pressure band — cutting in at 40 PSI and cutting out at 60 PSI, for example. A VFD system maintains a consistent target pressure by adjusting motor speed in real time. The result is steadier pressure at fixtures, fewer pump starts, and typically lower energy consumption over time.
